Ambiente Ambiente

We have long been on a path to promote solutions that can reduce the impact of our activities on the environment. We have rethought our business model with a view to circularity, involving all the players who can contribute with us to achieving the goal of a sustainable supply chain: from suppliers to customers, from universities to industry, from nongovernmental organizations to local communities.

Responsible water resource management

Water is the basis of our beverages and determines their quality and safety.

For this reason, the water used in production processes undergoes special treatments that ensure its microbiological safety and the correct concentration of naturally dissolved salts, according to precise organoleptic characteristics. At the production stage, we strive to maximize water efficiency in factories, with the goal of reducing water consumption in relation to liters of beverage produced. Finally, we treat 100 percent of the wastewater that comes from production activities before returning it to the land.

As further confirmation of this commitment, in 2024 we participated in several discussion tables and projects with local stakeholders, such as the Boscaja and AFI (Forest Infiltration Area) projects together with our Nogara factory, with the aim of giving shape and substance to our commitment to responsible water resource management.

Circularity of packaging

All our bottles and cans are recyclable and, if disposed of properly, can become new bottles and cans. And they really do become so.

The CircularPET plant in Gaglianico (Biella, Italy) is dedicated to PET recycling: a pole of excellence in innovation and environmental sustainability, with technologies that are pioneers in Europe for processing recycled plastic. Today, with an investment of 30 million euros-the largest in sustainability in the history of the Coca-Cola HBC Group-the Gaglianico hub is able to transform up to 30,000 tons of PET per year into new bottles made of 100% recycled PET (rPET).

Our efforts also go in the direction of reducing the materials needed to package our products. In 2024, we reduced the aluminum needed for the 0.15L can by 17% and saved 49 tons of paper through weight reduction on the 6-pack of cans.

To ensure that each package can have a new life through proper recycling collection, we continue to support educational projects related to raising consumer awareness of recycling and the circular economy.

Reducing emissions

As Coca-Cola HBC, we are committed to achieving net zero emissions across the value chain by 2040. With this clear and ambitious goal in mind, we have adopted solutions to progressively reduce our impact in various aspects of our operations.
