CCH CircularPET's Gaglianico factory is a hub of excellence in innovation and environmental sustainability, with pioneering technologies in Europe.
It has been converted from a disused bottling plant into a state-of-the-art plant for processing recycled plastics, an important step forward in Coca-Cola HBC's long-term sustainability strategy. With over 30 million euros of investment, the largest in sustainability in the Group's history, the Gaglianico hub is now an innovative plant capable of transforming up to 30,000 tons of PET per year into new 100% recycled PET (rPET) bottles, cap and label excluded, intended to cover the bottling needs of the company's beverages in Italy.
PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is one of the plastics for food packaging that is 100% recyclable for several times that does not lose its basic properties during recycling and therefore reduces the need to produce additional virgin plastic material. The Gaglianico factory is capable of transforming up to 30,000 tons of PET per year into new 100% recycled PET preforms for bottling the company's beverages . In the slideshow below you can learn more about the main steps that, within the plant, lead from the birth of an rPET preform .
