Milan, 3 June 2019 - What is the true face of a city? Coca-Cola has tried to answer this question and pays homage to six Italian cities with Face of the City: a limited edition dedicated to Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples and Bari; a journey through the peninsula that is also a declaration of love by Coca-Cola towards the country where it has been present with its factories for over 90 years.
"With Face of the City we want to pay homage to the country through our iconic bottle," says Giuliana Mantovano, Marketing Director Coca-Cola Italia. "Six cities, six faces that tell a story and celebrate the bond that has united Coca-Cola to Italy for over ninety years."
Cities consist of landscapes, culture, places, sounds, but above all of people; it is precisely their faces that imprint themselves in our minds, tell us a story, arouse emotions. With Face of the City , each of the six cities featured in this limited edition has become a unique and surprising face, thanks to the talent of Israeli designer and illustrator Noma Bar.
"I tried to capture the true soul of each city and express it through the creation of a character," says Noma Bar. "If you look at the six faces, you can recognize the city's symbols, architecture, food and landscapes, but it's only with a closer look that you can see Coca-Cola's distinctive elements."
Noma Bar has captured the essence of each city, imagining its identity and enriching its personality with symbolic elements: thus, Milan has the face of a hipster who, over a t-shirt with the façade of a railing house, wears a scarf in which the silhouette of a tram can be recognized, while in his long beard you can see the skyline of the Lombard capital.
A gondolier with the characteristic striped t-shirt, among Carnival masks and films, is a tribute to Venice. Florence , on the other hand, is revealed in the details of a young woman's clothing: from the ornaments of her dress, the hair clip, to the precious earring.
Rome and Naples also have the face of women: the one in the capital is sophisticated, with the silhouette of its staircases outlining her dress and a wide-brimmed hat; The Neapolitan one is more confident, whose clothing is rich in symbols of the city, from pizza to a lucky croissant. The journey of Face of the City finally ends in Bari, with a tribute to the seafront and its beauties.
