Marcianise (CE), 31 August 2020 –  The President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca, accompanied by a delegation of Confindustria Caserta led by President Luigi Traettino and General Manager Lorenzo Chiello, today visited the Campania plant of Coca-Cola HBC Italia, the main producer and bottler of The Coca-Cola Company brand beverages in the country. In recent years, the factory has been at the center of an investment plan of over 50 million euros that has equipped it with the most advanced "green" technologies, accompanied by a training project for employees that has made it possible to achieve the highest quality standards in Europe.

In full compliance with health safety regulations, President De Luca met the workers and visited the plant where the modern production line for high-speed PET bottles was recently inaugurated and the spaces where the exclusive "Keel Clip" technology will be implemented, a packaging system that will allow the complete elimination of plastic in can packages. The Marcianise factory will be the first in Italy to integrate this innovation, a choice that underlines its strategic role for Coca-Cola.

"It was an important and significant experience to have been able to visit this plant that represents one of the excellences of our region and verify the high professionalism of the management and workers, increasingly engaged in eco-sustainable production, in a context of constant safety and prevention for everyone. All this is confirmed by the confidence in a recovery of which we are convinced,"  said the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca.

"We are pleased - explained the President of Confindustria Caserta, Luigi Traettino -  that from one of the most important industrial realities in our territory comes a message based on an innovative production model, strongly oriented towards green. Confindustria Caserta has always supported the need to create eco-sustainable activities, capable of combining the development of the territory with respect for the environment. Once again, Coca-Cola has shown that it is a leading company and that it knows how to meet this challenge".

"The love story between Campania and Coca-Cola began in 1955 with the invention in Naples of Fanta Aranciata, one of the best-selling drinks in the world," comments Giangiacomo Pierini – Director of Institutional Relations and Communication of Coca-Cola HBC Italia. "A story that is renewed every day and that demonstrates how it is possible to do business responsibly when technological innovations are accompanied by the quality of the work of many colleagues".

Coca-Cola's Campania factory is a hub of industrial excellence and sustainability: the site is also equipped with a cogeneration plant that makes it self-sufficient for almost 50% of its energy needs. According to a study conducted by SDA Bocconi on the socio-economic impact of  Coca-Cola in Italy in 2019, the resources generated by the company in the region amounted to 32 million euros , of which 18 million euros were allocated to families, 13.8 million to businesses and 0.21 to the State, with 813 employees, including direct and indirect employees.
