Recycle Me Again: Coca-Cola Unveils New Bottles with 100% Recycled Plastic

A special edition and a dedicated tour on the occasion of the launch of the new bottles entirely in rPET to continue to raise awareness and encourage consumers to recycle.

Milan, July 15, 2021 – Coca-Cola introduces new bottles made with 100% recycled plastic (rPET) to the Italian market, further confirmation of its commitment to an increasingly circular economy. The new 100% rPET bottles, as always 100% recyclable, will be used not only for Coca-Cola products , but also for the other brands in the company's portfolio such as Fanta, Sprite and FuzeTea, for a total of 150 million packages in 2021 made entirely of recycled plastic.

To make this commitment even more visible, from July, the 450ml bottle of Coca-Cola Original Taste will be available in a special edition with the message "Recycle Me Again" and invitations inside the label to raise awareness and encourage recycling. With this same goal, on the weekends of August, Coca-Cola will be along the beaches of Lignano, Viareggio, Gallipoli and Mondello to invite consumers to properly dispose of PET bottles so that they can return to new life.

"Our packaging is already all 100% recyclable and now we are taking a further step to make the concept of circular economy more and more concrete and invite people to recycle correctly, so that no bottle is wasted".

This change, made possible following the abolition of the 50% limit of rPET in bottle production, is part of Coca-Cola's global strategy , World Without Waste, and confirms its commitment to making its packaging increasingly sustainable and reducing waste.

In addition to the increasing use of recycled plastic in packaging, Coca-Cola has been committed for years to reducing the raw material in glass, aluminum and plastic packaging and with the recent introduction of KeelClipTM it has also concretized its commitment to secondary packaging, those not in direct contact with the product: the innovative 100% recyclable paper system allows you to completely eliminate the plastic wrapping from the multipacks of cans. Finally, after Fanta, the Sprite bottle has also given up the iconic green color and has become transparent to be more easily recyclable in a new bottle.

All Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Light Taste, Coca-Cola Lemon Flavor Zero Sugar bottles of 330 ml, 450 ml, 660 ml, Fanta Original, Fanta No Added Sugar and Sprite 450 ml and 660 ml and FUZETEA 400 ml and 1.25 L are made with 100% recycled plastic.
