Marcianise (CE), 21 September 2024 – Coca-Cola HBC Italia, the leading bottler of The Coca-Cola Company brand products in Italy, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Marcianise (CE) factory, with an event dedicated to employees and their families, in the presence of the Councillor for Vocational Training of the Campania Region Armida Filippelli, the mayor of Marcianise Antonio Trombetta, the President of Confindustria Caserta Beniamino Schiavone and other important representatives of the community that has hosted us for half a century.
This great milestone represents a starting point for the future of Coca-Cola in Campania, as evidenced by the 21 million euros invested in 2024 in industrial innovations in areas such as modernization and development, health and safety, water and energy efficiency and packaging circularity.
These 50 years tell the story of Coca-Cola's special bond with Campania: it is in Naples that Fanta was born in 1955, a drink that has now become one of the best known, sold and loved brands all over the world, produced with 100% Italian orange juice.
"First of all, I want to thank all the people who, yesterday as today, have contributed to the success of this plant and to the value that together we generate for the whole territory." comments Miles Karemacher, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Italia. "As the first reality in the soft drinks and beverages industry in terms of economic impact and employment in Campania, in these 50 years we have created a virtuous circle that benefits above all the small and micro enterprises that collaborate with us, such as transporters and local suppliers". Karemacher continues: "A special thanks goes to Monica Rispoli, Director of the Marcianise plant, and Maria Pia Maio, Head of Logistics for Southern Italy, for their commitment and constant dedication".
The plant today represents the largest Coca-Cola production hub in Southern Italy and in the last 10 years has received a total of more than 62 million euros of industrial investments for modernization and environmental efficiency: a path of continuous innovation of the Campania plant that will make it increasingly central to Coca-Cola's future strategies in Italy.
With the 3 lines currently operational, the factory is capable of producing more than 200 million liters of beverages per year, enough to fill the wagons of a 30-kilometer-long train! In addition, the new line, inaugurated in 2020, has already generated savings of over 11% in electricity and 70% in water compared to the two previous production lines.
The environmental performance of the Marcianise site has been optimized by the trigeneration plants installed in the plant, capable of producing electricity and heat at the same time, reducing energy consumption and, consequently, the resulting emissions.
In 2021, Marcianise was the first plant to introduce KeelClip technology to the Italian market, an innovative packaging system made of FSC paper from a responsible and 100% recyclable supply chain that allows plastic wrapping to be completely eliminated from multipacks of cans, thus contributing to greater environmental sustainability.
