The Special Olympics is an international training programme and athletic competition for people with intellectual disabilities. For Special Olympics athletes, sport is not just related to physical performance, but also to the values of determination and courage.
Special Olympics was founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy, with the aim of giving value to the physical abilities of people with intellectual disabilities; since then, the Special Olympics International movement has kept growing, and today it involves more than 4 million athletes in more than 170 countries.
Coca‑Cola HBC Italia, through the Coca‑Cola HBC Italia Foundation, has been committed to raise awareness on the issue of social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through a range of different initiatives carried out in support of Special Olympics Italia.
This partnership started in Italy more than ten years ago and is part of an international partnership developed within the Coca‑Cola System worldwide.
